I want to thank the many car guys with their comments, tips and tricks! Thanks Aaron for sending me a newly rebuild, unused carb for me to look at. I didn't want to tear down mine because - da - I don't have any gaskets! Well that is going to change soon!
Bill is about to switch from a fuel injection setup to a used Predator carb!
This is SO awesome to hear! Little story; I was one of the first back in the early 90’s to run a Predator carb on my mud drag truck. After having (and hearing on other trucks too) numerous issues with regular carbs cutting out on bumps and off camber angles, I noticed Bigfoot was one of the only monster trucks that didn’t sputter and cut out when hitting piles of crushed cars. I asked Bob Chandler one day at a race, and he showed me the Predators he was running. Once I switched, it was night and day, and I never ran anything else. As a matter of fact, I’m from NJ -at one point I brought the truck to Dale in Lakewood, and he tuned it himself for me.
It’s been a number of years since I raced, but I still have an extended bowl Predator from my truck – it’s in some pieces, but it would be amazing to rebuild it and have it running again.
Best of luck on this venture; I hope it all works out!
Regards,
Darren Sammartino

how soon before a kit can be shipped? I have 4 carbs on 2 engines at a machine shop. they are trying to get me to switch to holleys .
I refused! let me know how soon we can get the kits
Randy!
It is so awesome you guys are taking over the business. The biggest thing people need is the complete rebuild kits with the metering blocks. The metering blocks are the big thing people are looking for.
Some time down the road can you come up with a better gasket for the accelerator pump cover. The gasket material used at this time seems to soak up the fuel and leak.
The nozzle bar you should redesign so the first 2 holes on each end are eliminated keeps the fuel from running down the case. Viton rubber works better on the flapper then what they sell in the kits.
It would be nice to see some different size nozzle bars and some fuel bowl extensions also. When you get up and running I would like to up grade to 2 6000 PXC chrome carbs that would be nice.
Thanks Mark
Gregg Schuetz at Gregg's Atv Shop in Norfolk Nebraska: we are very pleased to hear that you have picked up the predator line :) I have worked alot with these carbs and have set up quite a few for my customers over the years. I look forward to working with you in the future. Mostly what I replace for people in the carbs that have sat around for years is #6043 threw 6047 gaskets. 6051 acc diaphrams, 6060 through 6070 springs, 5007 metering screws and 5009 metering blocks. The 5016 inlet valves and 5021 backfire flaps. The 5076 mainifold base gaskets are a much needed Item. And of course all the orings that are in a predator. Also I have guys wanting to convert to the 6087 add on Idle circiuts.
And last but not least guys wanting to convert to Alky Kits and E85 conversions. I think if you were to offer alot of the rubber parts in Viton materials that would be a nice update for the carbs in this day and age. Also, a couple of years ago I talked with Dale about setting some of us repair shop guys up as sattlite/sub dealers, where we could take say 2 to 5 carbs, and say a thousand bucks worth of repair parts, put them in our show displays and racing rigs and take them to the racetracks and promote predator carbs. I have people interested all the time when I take my race car to tracks and people watch me race and ask me where to get set up with a Predator.
I think if you did a grassroots dealer program with a $2000.00 buy in at say 25 percent off on products for the sub dealers predator carbs would take off like a rocket. Full Puns intended haha. The biggest two reasons why predator didnt take off was because people wanted to see one in action at a racetrack and they wanted to hold one in their hands before they would buy one.
The third reason being lack of education, and understanding, and tuning the carb. The thing got the nickname "the magic box" lol. That is how miss informed the racers were and still are about the carb.
Hope you would put some of this in your (Ideas box). As a racer for 35 years these are my observations as to why the predator as nice and beautiful the carb performs didnt make a serious dent in the holley market ya know.
Thanks for listening, Gregg.
I have an older predator carb on my mud truck that I would eventually need a rebuild kit for. Also would need an inlet valve and maybe a second bell crank.
I purchased the carb used and I am still running it like it is.
This carb has by far the best throttle response of any carb I have ever used, it has never coughed or stumbled once. Pulls hard on top end as well. It's a shame they quit making them.
Hope you guys are able to swing a deal to start producing these fine carbs once again.
